20. What is the QR-code and how it works?
20. QR Code (abbreviated from Quick Response Code) is the trademark for a type of 2D barcode (or two-dimensional code) first designed for the automotive industry. More recently, the system has become popular outside the industry due to its fast readability and large storage capacity compared to standard barcodes.
To learn more about QR-code you can click here.
The most common applications are in marketing, advertising and often is also printed on new business cards.
The news that Griddixcat is launching internationally, is to use the QR-code for the register and the recognition of lost cats, fully protecting the privacy of the owner.

How does the mechanism developed by Griddixcat works:
  • For each signed member in Griddixcat is assigned by the system a personalized and encrypted QR-code;
  • The QR-code can be printed (various sizes), plastic and placed on the collar (shortly Griddixcat will allow the purchase of customized collars directly from the Social Network).
    You can book your personalized collar with QR-code of your cat, since now from our Contact Page, inserting in subject 'Collar QR-code' and in the email field your registration email to Griddixcat.
  • The QR-code can be activated or deactivated at any time by the owner on the 'Edit Profile' page;
  • The QR-code once activated and read (by special App available for the main models of smartphones and tablet, we report as example QR Droid and QR Barcode Scanner), reports to the public profile of the cat, where the cat owner can be contacted, anonymously, by the guy who found the cat through a simple contact form. In this way the privacy of the owner is always protected and has provided a simple and effective method to trace the owner of a lost cat, additional the microchip, not yet required by law at least in Italy;
  • The main advantage is that the QR-code can be read by any person with smartphones running Android, iOS (iPhone & iPad), Windows 7 and Blackberry OS,with the possibility to contact the cat owner anonymously, so it's not necessary, at this early stage, to bring the cat to the vet, also because cats often do not have the microchip;
    For a full list of QR readers on different OS please check here
  • Another important advantage is that cats often do not have chip and if you lose your cat abroad, during a vacation or a trip, it's not easy to trace the owner.
    Also we have to consider the cat is an independent animal, and often goes away to explore the area around;
  • You can make a simulation reading with your smartphone the QR-code reported here.
  • NB: The recognition service of the cat based on QR-code is activated on a voluntary basis, is a complementary and not alternative to the microchip, that in the case of cats is not yet required by law (at least in Italy), and it has even the aim to facilitate the control of feline population, fight the the phenomenon of abandonment and facilitate recognition of the cat owners, if you lost your cats abroad, in a simple and intuitive way.

21. What is a Flash Room e how it works?
